We are a marine ecology research group based out of Bodega Marine Lab at the University of California, Davis. We study human stressors on marine wildlife and ways to improve the sustainability of aquaculture, always with the goal of informing conservation, management, and policy.

Our work takes place throughout Pacific coast of North America, with much of it occurring in remote parts of British Columbia, Canada. In BC, we work closely with First Nations in whose territories we conduct field work, as well as Salmon Coast Field Station and the Pacific Salmon Foundation.

Much of our research focuses on Pacific salmon and the ecosystems and peoples they support. We also study other marine systems and species, most recently through collaborations with the White Abalone Captive Breeding Program in hopes of recovering endangered white abalone.

We're so excited to announce the release of the Pacific Salmon Field Guide, the product of a seven-year journey by Sean and Martin Krkosek. From Sean: I can proudly say this is the most comprehensive salmon guidebook ever published, covering seven species across five life stages. It's highlighted by 92 stunning illustrations from the peerless Joseph Tomelleri and beautiful photography from Tavish Campbell. The book is available from the publisher (waterproof or non-waterproof) and many other retailers.
